Honest Accurate’s Air Conditioning Service Beats the Heat!

Is your car ready for the summer heat?  Finally, summer is here!  Is your air conditioning (A/C) keeping up with the heat?  If it isn’t, Honest Accurate Auto Service can help beat the heat with our air conditioning service!

Many problems can creep up in your air conditioning system.  Here’s a few things our Honest Accurate expert Technicians say you need to watch:

  • The air coming out is not as cold as it used to be (we do a complimentary vent temperature check)
  • The fan (blower) does not work or is making strange noises
  • Car is overheating when the air conditioning is on
  • Leaks from the A/C system (sometimes not visible)
  • Vehicle having trouble switching back and forth from heating to cooling

Your car, truck, or SUV’s  air conditioning system works primarily as a heat exchanger, dissipating heat from the high pressure condenser to the low pressure evaporator.  The liquid refrigerant (Freon or comparable fluid) enters the evaporator core as a liquid.  As it changes to a gas, it cools the incoming air.

The evaporator is also responsible for removing the humidity from the air, which defrosts your window and allows you to see clearly with temperature variations from inside to outside.  Therefore, the system will be important for visibility during the winter months as well as cooling during the summer months.

This whole process requires an adequate amount of fluid, or refrigerant, in the system.  Therefore, if there are leaks (usually in the lines, compressor, condenser, or evaporator), the system will not work as designed.

Some common problems with air conditioning systems can be as simple as a blown fuse, dirty cabin filter, or low refrigerant level.  These issues usually are relatively easy and inexpensive to repair, replace, or service.

The process of “evacuating and recharging” your A/C system involves recovering the fluid (refrigerant), removing impurities and deposits from the old refrigerant, and then restoring the refrigerant level to the manufacturer’s recommendations.  If the level of refrigerant removed is particularly low, there is probably a leak.  Honest Accurate’s Certified Technicians will find the leak and let you know what needs to be done to seal the system.

If the problem is more complex, replacement of a compressor, condenser, evaporator or other critical components may be required.  At Honest Accurate, we know that pinpointing the exact problem, and/or the location of a leak first is very important, so that we can identify and accurately repair the problem part.

If you notice that your air conditioning system is not as cold as it used to be, or if the volume of air blowing from the vents has decreased, we can restore your system to its optimal operating condition.

If you are not sure if your car’s A/C is cooling properly, feel free to stop by anytime for a complimentary “vent temperature check”.   Or if you feel your car has any of the list of symptoms above, we’re happy to check it out for you.

Be ready for that summer road trip and have your air conditioning system checked by one of our ASE Certified Technicians – we want to help you “Beat the Heat” this summer!
